Detectives are appealing for information or dashcam footage after a man was shot in Croydon over the weekend

Detectives are appealing for information or dashcam footage after a man was shot in Croydon over the weekend.

Officers were called to London Road, Croydon, at 1.41am on Saturday, 1 August to reports of gun shots.

Police attended along with London Ambulance Service (LAS).

A man was found with gunshot injuries. He was taken to hospital where his condition was assessed as non-life threatening.

A short time later, at approximately 1.46am, emergency services were called to a collision between two cars in Morland Road.

The occupants of one of the vehicles, a black Astra, left the scene without providing details.

The three occupants of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries. Enquiries are ongoing to establish whether the incidents are related and police are appealing for dashcam footage from drivers in the area at the time of the crash.

Officers are asking for anyone with mobile or dashcam footage from the shooting itself to contact them. Detective Inspector Daniel McInerney, Specialist Crime South, investigates, said: “This is a serious crime and my team and I are determined to find who is responsible.

For that to happen, I am asking anyone with information to come forward. By doing so you can help us keep our communities safe. “Communities have a vital role to play in tackling violent crime and we urge anyone who may have information to tell us, so that we can tackle violence together.

We need information about crime or those who carry a weapon, or those that exploit people.

This intelligence can be used to great effect to not only detect, but also prevent crime, keep London safe and save lives. “Please talk to us or Crimestoppers, which is 100% anonymous.” At this stage there have been no arrests. Enquiries continue. Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 892/01AUG
