Two men have been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of 22-year-old Lavaun Witter in Croydon

Tyreece Riggon, 20 of Armistice Gardens, SE25 and Julian Russell, 22 of Sanfield Road, CR7 were arrested on Thursday, 18 February.

On Friday, 19 February, both men were charged with the murder of Lavaun Witter, the wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm of a 16-year-old male and possession of a bladed article.

Riggon and Russell have been remanded in custody and will appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 20 February.

Police were called to a residential address in Wisbeach Road, SE25, at approximately 8.10pm on Friday, 5 February.

Officers attended, along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, and found Lavaun suffering a stab injury. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 9.10pm.

A 16-year-old male was stabbed during the same incident and was taken to hospital where his injuries were found to be non-life threatening.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the events of the evening of Friday, 5 February. They believe further suspects may still be outstanding and continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone who has information that could help their investigation to come forward.
