A major fire has broken out at Camden Lock Market These are the dramatic scenes as 60 firefighters battle blaze at popular tourist attraction. Dozens of firefighters are battling to bring a major fire under control at London’ Camden market.

The market has faced fires before, with a blaze in 2008 causing major damage to the area. It is understood that the fire has broken out in the stools area of the popular market

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters and officers were called to a fire in Camden Lock Market at just before midnight on Sunday evening (9 July). An aerial appliance was also at the scene.

The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took 37 emergency calls to the fire which was highly visible across the area during its early stages.

Station Manager David Reid who was at the scene said: “Crews worked hard to get the fire under control and to stop it from spreading to neighbouring buildings.”

The Brigade was called at 2357 on Sunday night (9 July) and the fire was under control by 0250 on Monday morning (10 July). Crews from Kentish Town, Euston, Soho, Paddington, Holloway and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters will remain at the scene this morning damping down.
