A Four Million Pound Grade Two listed Property has been left gutted after fire ripped through the building in the early hours of Monday morning. Fire crews from across London rushed to the scene of the multi million pound property that is owned by Duchess Nivin Saad Eldin Mohamed Elgama. The five-storey stucco-fronted properties designed was by the architect Sir Matthew Wyatt , a member of the Wyatt family who was the son of sculptor Matthew Cotes Wyatt and the grandson of James Wyatt.The house was constructed in 1838 to celebrate the beginning of Queen Victoria’s reign.

Former residents included: Author Ian Fleming  who lived at number 16 Victoria Square from 1953 until his death in 1964. The first of Fleming’s James Bond novels, Casino Royale (novel), was published shortly after he took his house on the square. Fleming threw a post-premiere party at 16 Victoria Square following the first showing of From Russia With Love (film) on 10 October 1963. Conservative MP Michael Portillo also lived at the property before it was purchased by it current owner Duchess Nivin Saad Eldin Mohamed Elgama

Despite leaving all four floors gutted Fire crews managed to stop the blaze form spreading to neighbouring properties. Police remain at the scene of the incident. As a probe is launched into the cause of the fire. It is understood that no one has injured. One person left the property and raised the alarm to the fire service using a mobile phone A spokeswoman for London Fire Brigade said “We received a called advising of a fire at 1246 we sent four fire crews and from Chelsea,Lamberth and Soho an aerial ladder platform was also sent to the incident from Soho. Crews had the blaze under control at just after 2am. We are currently investigating the cause of the fire and we are likely to return at first light to continue are investigation. All Four floor of the property have been severely damaged by fire the ground basement and 1st floors are Totally gutted the second and third floor are 30% damaged by fire. Two parked cars were also damaged as a result of the fire.
