Detectives have been granted warrants of further detention for two men they arrested on suspicion of being involved in the commission, preparation and instigation of terrorism this week.
On Tuesday, 28 November, officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, assisted by officers from the SC&O19 Firearms Command, arrested a 20-year-old man in north London at approximately 14:50hrs.
Met Counter Terrorism Command officers, supported by the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit, arrested a 21-year-old man in south-east Birmingham at approximately 16:30hrs on the same day.
Both are being held in custody under the Terrorism Act at a south-east London police station. The warrants of further detention mean police can continue to detain them until Tuesday, 5 December.
Searches at addresses in south-east Birmingham and north London are now complete.
