Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault in Ilford which has left a man in hospital.
Officers were called at approximately 7pm on Friday, 24 August, to reports of a man found suffering injuries in Lynton House car park off the High Road, Ilford.
Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and the man – a 33-year-old Latvian national – was taken to an east London hospital for treatment. He remains there in a critical condition.
Two men – aged 30 and aged 33, both of whom are Lithuanian nationals – were arrested near to the scene. Both were charged on Sunday, 26 August, with assault (Section 18 GBH). They appeared in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 27 August and were remanded to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 24 September.
Both the victim and the two men charged are believed to have been homeless, but spent much of their time in the Ilford area.
Detective Sergeant David Doig of East Area CID said: “Our investigation has found that the victim was assaulted in the car park at Lynton House, off Ilford High Road, at around 17:20hrs on Friday, 24 August.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish any motive, however we believe that the victim argued with two males in the area around two hours before the assault.
“Although two men have been charged, I need to hear from anyone with information and in particular anyone who witnessed the assault or the earlier argument.”
Any witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to call officers from East Area CID on 101 quoting CAD 6253/24Aug or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
