Birmingham drill rapper Tyreece Clarke-Jones, known by his stage name Tallerz, aged 28, escaped from HMP Sudbury on May 23. He was serving a sentence of almost nine years for armed robbery at the time of his escape.
Derbyshire Police have initiated a manhunt to locate Tallerz and have issued a warning to the public not to approach him. Authorities cite his violent history and the ongoing risk he poses to the community as reasons for the caution.
Tallerz was convicted in 2021 for his role in an armed raid on a One Stop store located in Handsworth, Birmingham. The robbery, valued at £20,000, involved threats made to G4S security guards using weapons such as an axe and a hammer.
He was also connected to a gang responsible for a series of robberies across Birmingham, with the total value of stolen goods estimated at around £330,000.
Derbyshire Police are leading the search efforts following the rapper’s escape from the open prison. They have emphasized that no member of the public should attempt to confront or detain Tallerz. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the police immediately.
The escape has sparked concern within the community, with social media discussions focusing on the short time remaining on Tallerz’s sentence and the open nature of HMP Sudbury. Despite these factors, law enforcement is treating the escape with seriousness due to his violent criminal record.
