A West Yorkshire Police sergeant from Bradford, Sergeant Edward Howard, is set to appear in court charged with assault and intentional strangulation following an alleged off-duty incident in Kirklees on 10 November 2025.

Sergeant Howard is due before Leeds Magistrates’ Court on 9 June. The charges relate to the incident that took place last November.

Following the allegations, West Yorkshire Police removed Sergeant Howard from frontline duties and placed him on restricted duties while the investigation and legal process proceed.
