A man in his 50s was seriously injured after being shot with a crossbow at Manor Park Student Village in Guildford on Wednesday morning.
Surrey Police attended the scene shortly after 10:00 am and arrested a 21-year-old Saudi national, a former university student, on suspicion of attempted murder.
The victim was taken to the hospital and remains in serious condition. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported.
The 21-year-old suspect was arrested immediately at Manor Park. Surrey Police confirmed no other suspects are being sought, easing concerns within the Guildford community.
The investigation into the attack is ongoing.
Emergency services remain present at the student village following the attack. Authorities confirmed that access to the nearby Royal Surrey County Hospital has not been disrupted during the police operation.

Chief Superintendent Jon Groenen addressed local fears: “I appreciate that this incident will cause concern amongst our local communities, and I can reassure that we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident. We are working closely with the university as our investigation progresses.”
