A major manhunt is ongoing in Kansas City for Oscar Sanchez-Munoz, 22, who is wanted in connection with a shooting spree on Tuesday night. The incident occurred near England’s World Cup training base at Swope Soccer Village and resulted in one person dead and four others injured.

Police have issued warnings that the suspect is armed and dangerous, leading to a large-scale operation close to where England manager Thomas Tuchel and his squad are preparing for the tournament.

Authorities responded to multiple shootings within a 15-minute drive of the England team’s camp, including a reported incident on Prospect Avenue. Among the injured was an Uber driver who was shot while transporting fans to an Argentina game. The victims include three adults and a teenager, with one individual in life-threatening condition.

Police conducted a lengthy armed standoff at a property in Independence, which is believed to be the suspect’s hideout. During the siege, the house caught fire, but Sanchez-Munoz was not found inside. His vehicle was recovered at the scene, adding to the uncertainty about his current whereabouts.

With the violence unfolding near their base, the England team is being escorted under heavy police protection. Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves confirmed that multiple agencies are collaborating to safeguard World Cup events and local residents.

Chief Stacey Graves made an urgent appeal: “If you see this individual, please call the TIPS hotline, please call 911 immediately. We are hot on the trail of this subject and want to make sure he’s taken into custody as soon as possible.” Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward immediately as the search for the armed suspect continues.

The shooting adds to tensions near the World Cup, following earlier incidents including thefts of football gear en route to Swope Soccer Village. Additionally, severe weather warnings such as storms and tornado alerts have forced the England team indoors on several occasions during their stay in Kansas City.
